So just how rich is Tony Alva? Authoritative sources state that Tony’s net worth is estimated to be $15 million, with most of his net worth coming from his involvement in the famous skateboarding team from the 1970s, who called themselves “The Zephyr Competition Team” or simply “Z-Boys”.

Tony Alva Net Worth $15  Million

Tony Alva was fascinated with skateboarding from the childhood; he started his first skateboarding, as well as surfing attempts at the age of eleven. Soon Alva became one of the most inspirational and innovative skateboarders, as his skateboarding style completely rejected the traditional skateboarding tendencies and instead relied on a free form style. Tony Alva’s skills and abilities began to be appreciated by wide audiences, and turned him into a professional skateboarder while he was still a teenager.

A breakthrough in Alva’s career came in 1972, when he joined Z-Boys together with his friends Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta. The Z-Boys skated at the local Pacific Ocean Park, and even though they initially saw skating as a hobby, it rapidly grew to become a serious and profitable job. Alva’s contribution to the Z-Boys and skateboarding in general is immense; he is considered to have created a vertical skateboarding style, and is assumed to be one of the first professional skateboarders to perform the front-side airs. Alva’s popularity, as well as his net worth began growing at the time.

In 1974, Tony Alva signed a promotional deal with a shoe manufacturing company called “Vans”, and was also  a part of a Playboy photo shoot entitled “Playboy Poolside” with several other skateboarders. Alhough he had a deal with the “Vans” company, in 1977 Alva created his own company and called it “Alva Skates”, which became a manufacturer of professional skate boards and equipment. With the formation of this company, Tony Alva became the first skateboarder to run a company, as well as the first one to use a specific type of wood, namely Canadian maple plywood, to make decks. His net worth grew steadily.

In 2005, Alva expanded his business by opening two retail stores in San Diego and Los Angeles. “Alva Skates” celebrated its first anniversary of the opening of stores in 2006, and for that reason Tony Alva invited his fellow Z-Boys teammates, as well as other friends for a celebration.

A well-known skateboarder and entrepreneur, Tony Alva has tried his luck in music as well, playing bass in one of the local bands in the 1980s, and in 2007 formed his own band called G.F.P (General Fucking Principle) with Greg Hetson and Amery Smith. Tony Alva has made several appearances on screen as well; he is featured in a documentary film about the Z-Boys team called “Dogtown and Z-Boys”, and even appeared in Tony Hawk’s video game “Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland”.

In his personal life, Tony is married to Victoria, and they have two children.
